The Madison, Middleton, and Verona Post Offices are looking to hire 70 new mail carriers for the following positions:

City Carrier Assistant (CCA) - starting at $16.78/hour

Deliver mail and parcels on city routes. Schedule varies - may work up to 60 hours per week. Also deliver parcels on Sundays. This is a career path position*.

Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) - starting at $17.78/hour

Deliver mail and parcels on rural routes. Schedule varies - may work up to 60 hours per week. Also deliver parcels on Sundays. This is a career path position*.

Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) - starting at $17.78/hour

Deliver parcels on Sundays and observed holidays. Some ARCs may have the opportunity to work Saturdays. Part-time hours - 1 to 2 days per week. This is not a career path position.

Other Info

These positions are physically strenuous and may require lifting up to 70 lbs or walking upwards of 10 miles a day depending on the type of route.

Carriers may be required to work at any post office within Madison, Middleton, and Verona.

Benefits

CCA and RCAs are immediately eligible for the Noncareer Employee Health Benefits Plan. CCAs accumulate 1 hour of paid leave for every 20 hours worked. RCAs earn paid leave after serving as the primary leave replacement on a vacant route for 90 days. CCAs get a uniform allowance after passing probation.

Career Path Positions

CCA and RCA's fill in on delivery routes at multiple locations and their schedules vary from week to week based on need. Carriers are then promoted into career positions based on seniority. A career position comes with contractual pay increases, additional health care plan options, life insurance, additional paid leave, and retirement benefits. Career positions also mean a more consistent schedule with designated off days and having set route assignments. They also have the opportunity to transfer to different locations (inside or outside the city) or be promoted to higher level positions.
