This position is located at Departmental Offices,International Affairs. As an International Economist, you will provide a wide range of professional economic analysis within the Office of International Affairs at the critical sensitive security level.

Applicants with blank or perfunctory responses to the narrative questions will not be considered.* Specialized experience for the GS-14: You must have one year of experience at the GS-13 level in Federal service, or equivalent experience in the public and/or private sector, directly related to the position that has equipped the candidate with the particular experience to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Leading or coordinating macroeconomic or financial analysis research projects or teams; AND Using analysis from financial market, international trade, investment, development finance, climate finance, or multilateral development research to formulate policy or strategy recommendations to senior officials; AND Building consensus positions through negotiation and/or collaboration; AND Experience with multiple economic and financial subject areas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Specialized experience for the GS-13: You must have one year of experience at the GS-12 level in Federal service, or equivalent experience in the public and/or private sector, directly related to the position that has equipped the candidate with the particular experience to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Conducting financial analysis on macroeconomics, financial markets, international trade, investment, development finance, climate finance, or multilateral development issues; AND Making policy or strategy recommendations to senior officials/executives; AND Building consensus positions through negotiation and/or collaboration. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Specialized experience for the GS-12: You must have one year of experience at the GS-11 level in Federal service, or equivalent experience in the public and/or private sector, directly related to the position that has equipped the candidate with the particular experience to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Conducting macroeconomic or financial analysis; AND Assisting with the formulation of policy options/strategies on issues such as macroeconomics, financial markets, international trade, investment, development finance, climate finance or multilateral development. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Specialized experience for the GS-11: You must have one year of experience at the GS-9 level in Federal service, or equivalent experience in the public and/or private sector, directly related to the position that has equipped the candidate with the particular experience to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Conducting macroeconomic or financial analysis with a focus on financial markets, international trade, investment, development finance, climate finance or multilateral development. (This experience could be gained through a variety of professional experiences and be reflected via a wide range of tasks and activities. We are looking for experience such as, but not limited to: drafting research reports about the subject areas; drafting regular and routine market or news updates/digests; reviewing policy memos, white papers, or other written material related to the above broad international policy subject areas and summarizing in written or oral format; analysis of financial or budget documents; drafting external communication materials including reports, posts, newsletters, etc. about the subject areas; leveraging various programming language(s) and/or software tools to conduct any sort of statistical, economic, or financial analysis about the above broad subject areas.) OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR COMBINATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
