BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be hired at Level 1 (NF2), candidate must have: High school diploma or GED, AND One or more of the following current certifications: (1) Certified Exercise Physiologist - American College of Sports Medicine (2) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist - National Strength and Conditioning Association (3) Certified Personal Trainer - American Council on Exercise (4) Personal Trainer - Aerobic Fitness Association of America (5) Personal Trainer - National Academy of Sports Medicine (6) Physical Fitness related discipline certified through an accredited institution To be hired at Level 2 (NF3), candidate must have: Bachelor degree in (1) Exercise Science (2) Exercise Physiology (3) Kinesiology (4) Human Performance (5) or Fitness-related field, OR High school diploma or GED, AND at least five years of experience in personal training, Strength & Conditioning, and/or tactical fitness. All candidate must have one or more of the following current certifications: (1) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist - National Strength and Conditioning Association (2) Certified Exercise Physiologist - American College of Sports Medicine) (3) Certified Personal Trainer - American Council on Exercise (4) Personal Trainer - Aerobic Fitness Association of America (5) Personal Trainer - National Academy of Sports Medicine (6) Physical Fitness related discipline certified through an accredited institution To be hired at Level 3 (NF3), candidate must have: Bachelor degree in (1) Exercise Science (2) Exercise Physiology (3) Kinesiology (4) Human Performance (5) or Fitness-related field, AND One or more of the following current advanced certifications: (1) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist - National Strength and Conditioning Association (2) Certified Exercise Physiologist - American College of Sports Medicine (3) Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist - American College of Sports Medicine QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have or be able to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid Certification upon hire. Following certifications are desired: USAW -1, Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F), Certified Inclusive Fitness Specialist (CIFT-ACSM), Weight Management (ACE), or other relevant and accredited certifications. At least one year personal training, Strength & Conditioning, and/or tactical fitness experience is preferred. Must possess the skills necessary to coach individuals and groups on topics such as healthy lifestyle habits, basic nutrition, injury prevention strategies, proper exercise techniques and Olympic lifting. Must be able to develop fitness performance programs specific to the USMC/Navy mission needs. Demonstrate the ability to carry out and facilitate a variety of fitness-related programs through proper application of the following knowledge and techniques to include proper body alignment, proper exercise technique, proper breathing technique, heart rate evaluation, proper use of equipment and machines, cueing, attire, components of physical fitness, legal responsibilities, principles of training, class monitoring, etc. Knowledge of principles, concepts, and techniques in a variety of wellness and fitness programs, nutrition, physical fitness, stress and weight management, disease and risk prevention, etc. and remain up-to-date regarding the trends in Exercise Science and fitness programs. Ability to express oneself orally and in writing in a highly professional manner to speak with diversified groups and individuals in conducting classes. Exceptional customer focused skills to include ability to address participants' needs and resolve issues with tact and diplomacy; interpersonal skills to listen to and show concerns and respect for participants. A valid Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator's permit may be requested of this position at the supervisor's discretion. If the supervisor determines that this position requires a GOV, the employee is required to obtain the license within 30 days of supervisor's written direction to do so. Inability to obtain or maintain the appropriate licenses may result in disciplinary action. (The employee may be required to drive a HITT Truck which is up to 3 ton capacity.) Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to include weekends, holidays, and night time as well as travel to and from various camps in order to meet the operational needs of the program. Must be able to perform prolonged standing and walking, moderate to heavy lifting and carrying objects up to 45 lbs. independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (Tier 1) with Childcare background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age.
