Job Description
GENERAL EXPERIENCE is experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. WG-08- Must have at least 12 months of experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstrating ability to operate truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience operating vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in complicated traffic situations. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates and hours worked per week for each occurrence of both civilian and military employment (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only will result in disqualification. Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Your experience will be evaluated on the basis of duties performed. Your record of experience and/or training must show possession of the following knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position: - Requires skill and knowledge to operate vehicles that have limited maneuverability; have more than one body and two breaking systems; or are oversized. Driver has skill to operate these vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Because of the size and weight of these vehicles, drivers are knowledgeable about turning the vehicles, in evaluating the condition and load limits of bridges, in scheduling weigh points, and in accessing traffic conditions and hazards, locally and over long-distance routes in unfamiliar geographic areas. May require knowledge of warehousing plans and accepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques. May require normal color vision to differentiate item color codes pertaining to flammability, toxicity and explosivity.
