Job Description

No assumptions will be made about your experience. GS-02 - You must possess 3 (three) months of general work experience which demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a Surveying Aid. General work experience must demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the duties of a Surveying Aid. -OR- Education: Have successfully completed a high school education. GS-03 - You must possess six (6) months of general work experience which demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a Surveying Aid. General work experience must demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the duties of a Surveying Aid. -OR- Education: Have successfully completed one year of education above high school which included at least one course in surveying, engineering, industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, forestry, geography, navigation, cartography, physical science, or mathematics. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate undergraduate education. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: Work is logistically and physically challenging. It involves bending and walking in terrain that is rough, rocky, mountainous, and densely vegetated while carrying equipment up to 50 lbs. It involves long hours, averaging 10 hours per day for 6 days a week. Work Environment: While in the field will be subject to cuts and bruises, extreme and adverse weather conditions, and injuries and discomforts from pests or dangerous animals. May work in rain, snow, and rain while working in bear habitat.
