Job Description

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Experience in supervising or administering one or more of the following program areas: Mining Law Administration, Non-Energy Solid Minerals including Solid Leasable Minerals and Mineral Materials, Oil and Gas, Geothermal, Abandoned Mine Lands, or Hazardous Materials. Additional examples could include administering Oil and Gas or Geothermal Lease Sales. Experience completing State Director Review (SDR) for surface management under the General Mining Law and/or in oil and gas programs, etc. Determining program goals, resource needs, developing work plans, allocating resources, and accounting for their effective use within an energy or minerals program. Education may not be substituted for specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: Work is sedentary in nature with no special physical demands. However, work may require site visits that may involve driving and moving about various work sites. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting but may involve overnight travel for training, meetings, conferences, or site visits. Work sites may include construction, laboratory, and industrial sites that may require the use of personal protective equipment and additional safety precautions.
