Job Summary
This position is within the Bureau of Land Management, California State Office, Division of Support Services. The duty location is negotiable within any BLM CA Office. Job Description

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Experience managing land, mineral, and natural resource program uses of GIS technology for an organization. Integrating GIS technology with database management software and modifying or adapting standard software to meet program needs. Using software application packages for GIS (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, Portal), and relational database management systems (Geodatabase and Enterprise Geodatabase) to devise applications related to natural resource management, database development or data management. Communicating orally and in writing with a variety of multi-disciplinary technical user groups, such as peers and professionals in the field, to coordinate management of GIS data with other federal, state, local resource offices. Independently complete GIS related assignments, interpret customer needs, produce data/cartographic products, and document methods. Experience identifying data sources and evaluating GIS data for use. Providing technical and cartographic assistance and training to GIS data and system users. Education may not be substituted for specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary requiring long periods of sitting, intense concentration, and working several hours at a time. Stress may be experiences on a regular basis in attempting to respond to conflicting objectives and working tight deadlines with limited resources. Work Environment: Work is in a typical office setting or computer room. Occasional field work may be required in support of resource mapping projects and may require long days. May experience inclement weather conditions or less than ideal conditions in remote settings.
