Job Summary

The purpose of the position is to provide clinical and administrative support to the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Services related to patient care activities provided by the physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and recreational therapists within the service. Responsible for a variety of technical, medical, and administrative work for veterans in VA Northern California Healthcare System of all ages scheduled for diagnosis, treatments, and health care.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/05/2024. INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Providing administrative support to a health department such as Scheduling patient appointments, Maintaining and preparing documents and files, Ordering office/clinic supplies, and Timekeeping; Providing clinical support to a health department such as Assisting Physicians/Clinical Staff with treatments and tests under direct supervision, and Assisting with setting up clinical equipment. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed six full months of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position of Health Technician (OA). This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have equivalent combinations of specialized experience as described above AND successfully completed graduate level education that is directly related to the work of the position of Health Technician (OA).
