Job Description
NOTE: All deployment tours are limited to a maximum length of 2 years total unless Mission changes require and extension approval is acquired. *If you are a 30% Disabled Veteran or Schedule A eligible, you will be placed on an appointment not to exceed 1 year, with possible extension up to an additional year. *If you are an Army employee who does NOT have current competitive status, return placement to your permanent position cannot be guaranteed upon the end of your deployment tour. USACE will not be responsible for placement once your deployment tour ends. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify for the GS-12 based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience to manage and monitor military construction projects in an oversea area; inspect materials and workmanship assuring adherence to safety practices; observe and investigate all construction phases to ensure compliance with contract schedules and specifications for various construction contracts; prepares briefings, status reports, and correspondence to ensure understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Building and Construction Contracting/Procurement Oral Communication Quality Assurance Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
