Job Summary

About the Position: This Program Support Assistant will support the administrative requirements of Military Design Branch within the Engineering Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District. The Military Design Branch is responsible for supervision and coordination of the District's Military Master Planning program, the Military Design (in-house and AE) program, and the Interagency and International Services (IIS) program.

GS-08 PROGRAM SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) POSITION Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Utilizing automated systems to executing time and attendance procedures; (2) Completing standardized forms related to the execution of common administrative tasks, i.e. property audits, leave slips, and/or travel requests; or (3) Developing and update standard operating procedures for offices to help employees complete routine operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. GS-07 PROGRAM SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) POSITION Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) With moderate oversight, execute time and attendance procedures; (2) With moderate oversight, complete standardized forms related to the execution of common administrative tasks, i.e. property audits, leave slips, and/or travel requests; or (3) With moderate oversight, develop standard operating procedures for offices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-06 PROGRAM SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) POSITION Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) In a learning capacity and with significant supervision, execute time and attendance procedures; (2) In a learning capacity and with significant supervision, complete Standardized forms related to the execution of common administrative tasks, i.e. property audits, leave slips, and/or travel requests; or (3) In a learning capacity and with significant supervision, develop standard operating procedures for offices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Clerical Technical Competence GS -08 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). GS-07 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). GS-06 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Management may select at the GS-6, GS-07 or GS-08 level.
