Job Description

Selective Placement Factor: Requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. The duties of this position lead to the full performance level of GS-07. Incumbent may be appointed to the GS-06, or GS-07 (depending on qualifications). Promotions are not automatic. If selected at the GS-06 grade, incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher grade upon (1) meeting all regulatory requirements; (2) certification by the supervisor of successful performance; (3) completion of all training requirements; and (4) the availability of work at the next higher grade level. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Minimum Qualifications for the GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes inputting information into a database system; and responding to customers to answer inquiries or redirect to the appropriate staff or supervisor. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Behavior, Management, or a related discipline to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Minimum Qualifications for the GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preforming administrative functions associated with budgeting, information flow, personnel, and time keeping; and interpreting regulations/policies to ensure procedures are in compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Behavior, Management, or a related discipline to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
