Job Summary
This position is located in the Employment and Training Administration (ETA); Office of Workforce Investment (OWI); Division of National Programs, Tools, and Technical Assistance (DNPTTA); System and Career Planning Tools Unit. This unit is responsible for overseeing the career exploration and job analysis online tools known as CareerOneStop and O*NET and their associated data collection, as well as grants and technical assistance to states on workforce and labor market information.
Job Description
You must meet the Basic Requirements/Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) listed in the Education Requirements section and the Specialized Experience to qualify for Economist, as described below. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. For GS-13: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower grade level or GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-13 includes all of the following: Assisting an expert level economic specialist in all of the following: 1) Researching, compiling, and analyzing economic data and/or statistical reports from a variety of sources (e.g., federal agencies, states, grantees); and 2) Validating data, preparing interpretive reports, and presenting/reporting results and outcomes reflecting economic patterns and labor market trends; and 3) Advising and consulting on economic and workforce matters to government officials and private organizations and/or citizens. For GS-14: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower grade level or GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-14 includes all of the following: Working independently as an expert level economic specialist performing all of the following: 1) Researching, compiling, and analyzing economic data and/or statistical reports from a variety of sources (e.g., federal agencies, states, grantees); and 2) Validating data, preparing interpretive reports, and presenting/reporting results and outcomes reflecting economic patterns and labor market trends; and 3) Advising and consulting on economic and workforce matters to government officials and private organizations and/or citizens.
