Job Description
To qualify for an Administrative Assistant (OA) GS-0303-05, your qualifications must include: A. Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement. Examples of creditable specialized experience include: Types routine correspondence for review by supervisor. Receives and files correspondence, records, and reports and maintains copies of regulations and directives, and files changes Gathers and summarizes data on assigned programs using a variety of sources B. Education: To qualify at the GS-05 level based on education, in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess 4 years above high school. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. See http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx. If using education to meet basic qualifications, YOU MUST SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT as supplemental documentation C. Combination: only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
