About the Position: Position is located at any commissary within the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) system, and the primary purpose of the position is to perform duties of a Store Worker (Fork Lift Operator). Incumbent works in one or more of the departments within the store and performs a variety of duties involved in receiving, handling, marking, preparing, displaying, and maintaining the stock levels of resale items. Required to operation electric, diesel, or gasoline powered fork lift.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Store Worker (Fork Lift Operator) without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Store Worker (Fork Lift Operator) tasks such as organize proper display areas for merchandise within the store and determine the amount of shelf space to be used for various items and estimate the space requirements for new items or increased quantities receiving general guidance on where and how to identify items to be received, stored, and maintained. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: The work requires continuous walking, standing, bending, or stooping, and using arm movements to fill the store's shelves and counters. The incumbent frequently lifts or moves heavy boxes or crates weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds. While operating a forklift, the incumbent uses moderate physical effort in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the forklift and raising, lowering, and tilting loads being moved. Strain is caused by the vibration of the forklift. Working Conditions: Most of the work is performed in the store display areas which are well lighted and maintained at a comfortable temperature. The store aisles are often crowded with customers and grocery carts. When working in the storage area or loading dock, the incumbent may be exposed to hot or cold weather or damp or drafty conditions. May be exposed to differences in temperatures in storing or obtaining items in refrigerated rooms. There is a danger of minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and bruises, or heat sealer burns. In addition, while operating a forklift, the incumbent may receive cuts, bruises and broken bones from shifting loads, toppling stacks, overturning forklifts, falling objects, or accidents with other moving equipment. If you are currently stationed in the overseas area, all of your overseas time will be credited toward your current overseas tour end date. Your overseas time served will not reset upon accepting this assignment. If you have returned from OCONUS within the past 2 years or less, your time previously served in the OCONUS area will be credited to your 5 year overseas rotation upon accepting this assignment.
