Job Summary
Join our team as a Fire Protection Engineer, located in the prestigious Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Superintendent, Library Buildings and Grounds (LBG), Assistant Superintendent Facilities Support Division. You'll be entrusted with the role of an esteemed expert, overseeing fire protection systems for LBG. Your responsibilities will encompass the planning, design, construction, modification, operation, and maintenance of fire protection systems across various facilities and structures.
Job Description
You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. It is available for your review on the OPM web site at OPM qualification standards Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-13 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing the following under minor oversight: Designing modifications to existing suppression systems and fire alarm systems in support of space renovation; Assessing and articulating compliance or non-compliance of projects during planning, design and construction phases Providing project management on the execution of fire protection focused system improvements and upgrades; and Performing contractor oversight functions as a Contractor Office Technical Representative (COTR).
