Job Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. For current and former Federal Employees: This specialized experience requirement can be met by qualifying experience at the second lower grade level (GS-09), since no intervening GS-10 level positions exist in the normal line of progression for this occupation in this organization/location. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working in a trade or craft that provided intensive knowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering concepts, principles and practices applicable to engineering duties concerns with design, construction, or review of submittals for various renovation and constructions projects; experience with equipment and systems such as heating, air-conditioning, machinery, piping, plumbing, ventilation, fire protection, digging, shoring, lighting, architectural finishes, door hardware. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). For external applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing work related to architectural, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering concepts, principles and practices applicable to engineering duties concerns with design, construction, or review of submittals for various renovation and constructions projects; experience with equipment and systems such as heating, air-conditioning, machinery, piping, plumbing, ventilation, fire protection, digging, shoring, lighting, architectural finishes, door hardware. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
