Job Summary

The position is in the Office of the Chief Librarian (PL) in the Library Division, reporting directly to the Chief Librarian. The Library Division consists of three departments, Reader Services, Technical Services, and Library Image Collections, each supervised by a department head. The primary purpose of the position is to perform a variety of administrative and technical duties on behalf of the Library and its multiple departments.

Job Description

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-301-9. For this position, specialized experience is experience at a GS -7 at an academic or government institution, performing a variety of administrative support duties, including procurement and/or financial analysis. Skill in organizing, researching, problem-solving and completing under tight deadlines various administrative tasks for executive level staff. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with executives and a variety of internal and external professionals and administrative staff members of an academic or government institution. Skill in using computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access to create, maintain, and produce financial and personnel records, text documents, databases, spreadsheets, and reports. The incumbent must be organized, precise, accurate, and consistent, and pay attention to detail to accomplish assignments successfully. Ability to organize and implement diverse projects simultaneously, within established deadlines, and to respond quickly, courteously, and knowledgeably to requests for information and materials. Knowledge of contracting, procurement, travel, and purchasing processes in an academic or government institution. Proficiency in developing, using, and maintaining databases and spreadsheets. Experience planning and implementing administrative projects in an art museum library.
