Job Summary

This position is the Director of Innovation, Quality, and Resolution in the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Audits, Inspections, and Evaluations (OAIE), reporting to the Assistant Inspector General (AIG). The mission of the OIG is to provide independent and objective oversight of the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and economy of its programs and operations and to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.

Job Description

Basic Requirements: auditing; or a 4 year, or advanced degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. Or Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. Your application package must include proof of meeting educational requirements. To qualify at the GS-15 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include reviewing complex business processes and making recommendations for improvement; negotiating with third parties to gain consensus for implementing recommendations for corrective action; and reviewing and issuing complex technical reports and correspondence. In addition to meeting the basic requirements and the specialized experience you will be evaluated by a subject matter expert (SME) in the following: Do you have knowledge of and experience in ensuring oversight assignments are conducted in accordance with published standards, including Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and CIGIE Quality Standards for Inspection and Evaluation? Experience refers to paid/unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) & other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, & skills & can provide valuable training/experience that translates directly to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
