About the Position: This position is located in the Homeland Defense/ Civil Support Office, Capabilities Development Department, on Fort Leonard Wood. Fort Leonard Wood is located in beautiful South-Central Missouri. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east and Springfield is a 1-hour drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. ** To qualify for the Interdisciplinary Scientist in the field of a Biologist, the following Basic Education requirements must be met. ** Basic Requirement for Biologist (Series 0401) A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) To qualify for the Interdisciplinary Scientist in the field of a Chemist, the following Basic Education requirements must be met. ** Basic Requirement for Chemistry (Series 1320) A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in the physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering which includes 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year in the Federal service that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation or industrial establishment: 1.) review, analysis, and evaluation of Homeland Defense/Civil Support office policy and guidance from higher headquarters and formulation of draft policy for Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) staffing and implementation. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert in Weapons of Mass Destruction/Civil Support providing advice, recommendations, and solutions for science and technology efforts. 2) require comprehensive knowledge of the overall engineering field and particular expertise in the specialized area. Additionally, due to the breadth and complexity of these GS-13 level assignments, a substantial knowledge of the physical and biological sciences and other considerations must be applied as they relate to assignments. 3.) identifying and synchronizing the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) programs with policies and regulations. 4.) communicate effectively with members of the Army staff, Command members, DOD, Inter agency Stakeholders, Federal and State regulators on a daily basis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
