Job Summary
You will serve as a Supervisory Firefighter/DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF in the Commander, Navy Region Hawaii (CNRH) of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII.
Job Description
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1)Plans, distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments of others; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner: 2) Manages programs and fosters an environment that administers all resources in a manner that instills public trust while accomplishing the mission; 3) Monitors progress and evaluates outcomes to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness, while holding self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results; 4) Determines objectives, sets priorities, and ensures sound management processes and procedures are in place, ensuring that national interests are well served; 5) Conveys written information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; 6) Expresses thoughts persuasively and uses effective modes to reinforce message retention; 7) Demonstrates ability to clearly and effectively articulate, present, and promote varied ideas and issues (to include sensitive or controversial topics) before a wide range of audiences, along with making clear and convincing oral presentations, and clarifying information as needed; 8) Develops the competencies of others to perform and contribute to the organization by inspiring and providing a learning environment of ongoing feedback and opportunities to learn through formal and informal methods, enabling employees to address skill gaps and realize their highest potential and 9) Possesses knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of fire control and extinguishment, including characteristics and behavior of fire; methodologies, strategies, and equipment used in prescribed fires; fire detection, prevention, and suppression strategies; knowledge of and ability to apply firefighting techniques in hazardous environments. ***Certification Requirements: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, Airport Firefighter and Hazmat Incident Commander. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. You are strongly encouraged to attach copies of all of the above certifications with your application.
