Job Description
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Coordinating cloud system administration (AWS, Azure), ensuring compliance with FISMA/FedRAMP, and applying IT integration methods for installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and security protocols. Examples of Qualifying Experience include: a. Essential First-Day Skills for Success Cloud Platform Proficiency: Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including setup, configuration, and management. Cybersecurity Fundamentals: Knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP) to ensure cloud compliance. Networking & Systems Knowledge: Understanding of network infrastructure and virtualization, including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, and load balancing in cloud environments.Automation & Scripting: Skills in automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell).Incident Response & Troubleshooting: Ability to handle incident management and troubleshoot cloud environments effectively. b. Universal Qualifications for All Candidates Federal Cloud Policy Knowledge: Familiarity with federal guidelines, compliance standards, and best practices for cloud security and data governance. IT Systems Background: Experience in systems administration or engineering, particularly in managing or deploying cloud or hybrid infrastructure. Project Management Understanding: Capability to manage projects or initiatives in cloud migration, optimization, or transformation. c. Ideal Candidate Background Extensive Cloud Certifications: Advanced certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) showcasing deep expertise. Federal or Public Sector Cloud Experience: Proven track record managing cloud environments within a federal or public sector context, understanding government protocols. Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and communicate complex cloud solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders. d. Lower-Grade Applicant Preparedness Hands-on Cloud Platform Experience: At least one to three years of practical experience with cloud platforms in a systems admin or junior engineer role.Exposure to Federal Compliance Requirements: Familiarity with foundational federal security and compliance requirements or experience with non-government but highly regulated environments.Demonstrated Growth in Technical Skill Set: Evidence of progressing through technical roles, gaining responsibility in managing cloud or virtualized systems, or leading small projects. e. Alignment with Area of Consideration Federal IT & Cloud Specializations: Applicants within federal agencies or contractors familiar with federal IT, cybersecurity, and procurement requirements.Public Sector Backgrounds in Cloud Services: Potential candidates from the Department of Defense or civilian federal agencies are more likely to have relevant compliance knowledge and experience with federally compliant cloud architectures.
