Job Summary
You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the SHAPEC DIRECTOR CODE 280 DIVISON of the Engineering and Planning Department of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Job Description
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience coordinating industrial shops and support codes on issues pertinent to cost, schedule, and productivity to expedite ship overhaul and repair projects. Experience applying knowledge of engineering principles and theories, as they relate to the various disciplines associated with nuclear submarine overhaul and repair (i.e. mechanical, electrical, electronics and structural). Experience utilizing project management concepts to ensure the integration of cost improvements and productivity measurements into planning, scheduling, executing, and documenting work assigned. Experience incorporating improvement initiatives to execute the rigid cost and schedule requirements imposed on the shipyard by Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and other authorities. Experience solving unusual or controversial problems associated with nuclear submarine overhauls. GS-11: For Outside applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position.
