Job Description
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing, implementing and providing training in fire protection, prevention and hazardous material emergency response; AND conducting fire protection inspections. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Conditions of Employment continued: You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid state and government motor vehicle operator's permit. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and requires an annual physical. This position requires participation in a physical fitness program. You will be required to work a 60-hour work week with eating and sleeping facilities provided in accordance with general firefighting practices. This position requires a work schedule of four 9-hour days and one 24-hour day shift per week. Physical Demands: Work requires lifting to 50 pounds, walking 2-4 hours daily, occasional climbing and maintaining mental alertness, self-control and emotional stability to carry out the duties of this position. You must pass the Navy firefighters physical examination annually and successfully participate in the ongoing Navy firefighter physical fitness program. Work Environment: The work is performed in various settings, such as office buildings, warehouses, industrial, and construction sites. In some areas the employee may be required to wear protect clothing such as masks, goggle, gloves, shields, etc. The work may involve moderate risk requiring exercise of safety precautions when working around fuel transfer operations, construction sites, hospitals, airfields, etc.
