Job Summary
Joining the Secret Service, Office of the Protective Operations, Special Services Division as a Protective Armored Specialist will allow you to use your expertise in the field of Automotive Technology to maintain, equip, and repair a state-of-the-art protective vehicle fleet. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) Announcement - Veterans' Preference does not apply. Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime is additional compensation which may be paid up to 25% of the base salary.
Job Description
GL-09: You qualify for the GL-9 level if you possess one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-8 level performing duties such as conducting diagnostics for all aspects of vehicle maintenance; performing all routine repairs and assisting with major modifications such as removing, tearing down, or rebuilding major components and assemblies on protective armored vehicles/automobiles; identifying and solving unique mechanical problems; and communicating with high-level officials. GL10: You qualify for the GL-10 level if you possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-09 grade level performing duties such as: ensuring maintenance of fleet management in accordance with procedures, guidelines, and, policies; working with the make-up operation, and installation of all components, assemblies, and systems of advanced armored vehicles (e.g. engines, transmissions, front and rear-end assemblies, power steering and braking mechanisms, air conditioning, electrical and hydraulic components and assemblies); operating (armored) motor vehicles in adverse conditions such as a wide range of traffic patterns, road and weather conditions, and a variation of hazardous and emergency situations; and investigative activities, monitoring physical security, armored vehicles maintenance, logistics and planning and technical support.
