Job Description

WHO CAN APPLY: GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PV1 - E6/SSG) or currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program. GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PV1-E6-SSG), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period. Military Grades: Enlisted Personnel (E1/PV1 - E6/SSG) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have the experience or training which demonstrates the ability to serve as a working leader of 3 or more employees performing the handling, storage, examining, transporting, and identifying of ammunition and explosives to detect defects, serviceability, deterioration, and compliance with all ammunition and explosives regulations, acceptable standards, specifications, or contractual requirements, as well as develop policy and procedures to support day to day operations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WL-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WL grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experience communicating instructions received from supervisor to work team, and initiating work. Experience working, side-by-side, and partnering with other workers, performing the duties of an Ammunition Inspector and setting the pace of co-workers being lead. Experience conducting pre-issue inspection of ammunition items prior to issue. Experience assisting in the inspection of ammunition, to include performing maintenance, care, preservation, shipping and storage operations, assuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, drawings, etc. during operations.
